"Robin Simons' eclectic life could easily provide excellent material for a Hollywood scriptwriter."

Welcome to my web-site. This is my window to the world and I invite you to take a look inside. In these pages you will find my photography and my writing. I will introduce you to my other passions, issues of health, my dogs and the mountains in Ireland. These activities feed my soul. They are a source of joy and they energise me. They are the sunshine that pierces through the clouds of daily struggles that can limit my vision.

Living with Parkinson's disease
I have lived with Parkinson's disease for the last twenty six years and Ankylosing Spondylitis (Spinal Arthritis) for four decades. This was my challenge, how to live with these two uninvited and unwanted diseases. I embarked on a journey to find a new way of living. Having a diagnosis of early-onset Parkinson's at forty inevitably threw out my carefully constructed life and my plans for my future. I knew my Parkinson's would be a lifelong challenge, but I did not know the details of the journey that lay ahead.

Finding a new way of living
The desire and determination to make the most of my life and the opportunities that came my way was my guiding principal. My career in social work had equipped me with the tools and techniques that have enabled me to manage my health issues and live a positive and rewarding life. My experience of illness led me to develop my concept of 'wellness' and strategies for creative living.

For me it became important to recognise, that despite of my illness I have the capacity to choose how I want to live my life, and focus my energy wholeheartedly to that end.

This is my window to the world, take a look inside. If you like it, come back, if not, happy surfing.
